Talk is cheap? Well is it? Or is it the most valuable commodity we have? The ability to communicate our thoughts and ideas must surely be one of our most precious assets? But who wants to talk and who wants to listen? If you talk, who listens? And if you only listen, who is there to talk? Modern Communications exists to help people to talk and listen through the most sophisticated technology developed. At the push of a button we can talk to our friends and relations across the world. But is there a more significant reason for talking? Where does our talking get us? Do we make a difference to the world if we talk? Do individuals have the power to shape the future? We believe they do. And because we believe in the importance of communications, we are inviting you to join our ‘debate page’; our focus is to talk to people who have shaped their respective futures, in all aspects of our communicative world, in politics, the media, the arts, and sport. They are men and women with integrity who do indeed ‘walk the walk, and talk the talk’.

Interviewed by writer, commentator and journalist Victoria Schofield, who co-edits the debate page, we encourage you to enter the debate, by giving us your comments and sharing your opinions. Talking is cheap, but the benefits can be priceless.

Victoria Schofield - Co-editor

In this introductory interview we talked to Victoria Schofield, co-editor of Modern’s ‘Debate Page’. We asked her the questions which she will be asking a number of people in a series of monthly interviews: Does the individual have the power to shape the future? Which individuals have? And even if they have not shaped the future in the grand sense of the word, how have they shaped the story of their own lives?
